This is the process whereby the physical thickness of the solid metal itself gets tested by a ultrasonic wave. It is fast, versatile and extremely reliable measurement of testing.

The damage to this specific element is then detemined by the amount of time taked for this ultrasonic wave to pass through the metals and return to the surface.
